Why I'm not resolutioning to give up facebook, blogger, pinterest etc.

Mommy guilt.  It eats at the best of us.  If we spent less time on facebook (blogger, pinterest etc.) we would be a better parent.  No you won't and I'm gonna tell you why.  I tried to give it up.  Really I did.  and guess what happened?  I got crabby!!!!!  I missed my FB friends, my daily updates but most of all my downtime.  I NEED my downtime and my FB friends.  Pinterest actually helps me use my time more wisely and blogger helps me get things off my chest and then when some of you actually read my posts I am just plain happy!  We all need a little happy in our lives. Reason #1  I don't go out much but I'm a social person.  I need FB to socialize while at home (and I assume you do too.)  But guess what, when my kids are talking to me or need me I shut my computer screen and give them my full attention.  I can't do that if they are with a baby-sitter and I am out with adults. Reason #2 I have several f...

New Year's Resolutions--Part 2--Weight loss--THE PLAN

OK, OK Mrs. Zrihen at  A Teacher's Treasure  convinced me to go into more detail about my New Year's Resolutions.  I am a monthly resolution kind of gal.  To stick with something for a WHOLE YEAR is too much for my multi-tasking brain so I break it up.  However when I think of 2012 as a whole, this is what I want to accomplish-- Delcutter my house Lose weight (40-50 pounds) Start my Teachers Pay Teachers store My declutter plan is posted  here . My weight loss plan comes from this book  It has you competing against a team (my hubby and 4 other gal pals) and you keep track or your points.  You get points for doing these things.... eating 5 healthy meals 2-4 hours apart exercising 20 minutes a day working on a new habit (decluttering) drinking water (my team decided on 72 ounces, I think the book recommends 96 but that is just--wow) getting 7 hrs. of sleep each night There are other rules that can add to your point total or subtract fro...

New Year's Resolution--and Linky Parties!

Like many years I have a whole huge list of New Years resolutions.  To prevent myself from failing publicly though I may not release them all...yet.  I am going to tell you though the one that I am going to make, and announce for the hope of preventing failure is...I AM GOING TO DECLUTTER FOR 15 MINUTES AT LEAST 6 DAYS A WEEK!   That is doable right?  I am also going to try to participate in some blog organizing linky parties.  I find great satisfaction in posting about my decluttering feats.  The latest one  I joined is at Ask Anna's and I can't wait to find out the details!  What is your New Year's  Resolution?  I also joined the Linky Party at  A Teacher's Treasure  and  Live, Love, Laugh Everyday in Kindergarten Update:  My weight loss plan can be found  here .

Kindle Fire educational apps!

On a whim we decided to stop investing money in Leap Frog products due to always having to buy games and batteries and decided to buy TWO Kindle Fires.  One day in and I am so glad we did!  The hardest part though is there are not as many educational apps out there as the ipad/ipod and the ones they have are not reviewed.  I spent a good portion of my day finding and pinning them  here.   I wanted to share so that you didn't spend hours searching like I did if you were also blessed with a Kindle Fire for Chirstmas.  We were hoping to share 2 between the 4 of us but hubby's birthday is in March and I think this would be a great gift for him too!!  I am now a Kindle Fire fan!!!!

WARNING!--We are blessed or spoiled, whatever you want to call it. :)

Christmas is over and I am happy because we  I suck at being Santa.  Here is how we've messed up in the past... Left the Christmas budget up on the computer for first grader to look at, when Santa came she knew it was us. Then I had Easter baskets ready to hide and they were in plain sight in my bedroom before a trip.  I asked my first grader to get me something out of my bedroom at that moment.  If she had any hope about the Easter bunny, I ruined it right then and there.  We had a heart to heart and she joined the lying  keep the story going for your sister team. This year we royally screwed up we........ Were ahead of the game wrapping stuff up ahead of time, only there was no forethought about what wrapping paper was from Santa and what was from us.   The pink 4+ legos got slapped with a J tag (they were supposed to be for M) and neither one wanted the primary colored legos for 2-5. We messed up the stockings.  I mean royally messed up. ...

Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone of you has a restful Christmas vacation and a wonderful 2012!  I am expecting a lot of changes to my blog in 2012.  I love to blog about my home life the most, but blogging about school inspires me to be the best teacher I can be.  Therefore I am hoping to separate the two blogs and opening my Teachers Pay Teachers store this summer.  I decided to table it for now because I was simply running out of time and I am still struggling to balance it all.  My hope is to be able to provide HM Journeys printables and to team up with a talented co-worker.  So stay tuned for exciting things to come in 2012........

Welcome to my old/new blog!

I don't know about you but I LOVE New Year's Resolutions.  I usually go a little crazy around the house.  I am hoping that someday my home will be so organized that I can have a super organized classroom too.  *DREAMING*  Anyway, part of 2012 is separating my home projects with my classroom projects.  I am thinking that my home blog will be busy the first half of the year and my hope is that by summer I can get  going making printables and units for the classroom and have 2 busy blogs!  I can't wait for Clean Mama  to start her January mission.  Thanks for following me over and look forward to  a lot of posts about organization!   I
