I'm a mom too!

Warning:  May contain offensive language if you are a Husker Fan.  ~sorry People are curious about where you are headed on vacation.   If I had a dollar for everyone that asked me “Why Western Nebraska?” I’d have a lot of money.   Before I went on my vacation my answer was simple.   Why not?   Now I can confidently tell you why. You see I was raised in Iowa.  Iowans don’t like Nebraskans and vice versa.  I was afraid to tell my Iowa friends that I liked Nebraska and afraid to tell my Nebraska friends that I longed to move back to Iowa, but the truth is I moved to small town NE, just across the river, and the farmers grow corn and beans just like Iowa.  They have a Caseys (and a Runza) and I can even get to a Fareway in Omaha.  Oh yeah Omaha,  I really liked living close to a city.  You can shop for anything you want, see big shows, go to sporting events, visit the zoo and then  come back to the small town for your everyday errands (such as grocery shopping).  I realized shor

July 1 to me is like January 1 for many.  It is always the time a year I try to take control of something that bothers me to get it in place for the upcoming school year and my crazy (signed J up for soccer last night) soccer, dance, softball, piano, church, school schedule!  I have tried fly lady and failed many, many times.  I found Nony, read this book and July 1 I begin!!  Anyone care to join me???? So my crazy friend talked me into doing the Warrior Dash which we completed today.  It was a very hilly 5K with 14? obstacles, most of them were tough to me.  I am not a beginner,  I have ran several 5Ks, I run a very slow 12 min. mile.  I can do push-ups, sit-ups, tough circuits etc.  I can swim a mile.  I have powerful legs. What can I not do?  Pull-ups.    I am fit, but I weigh a lot. If you can not do a pull up, you may want to consider skipping this one. The first 1.5 was very hilly, no prob for me, we walked up the hills and ran down them.  I had trained to do this.  We were doing great.  Not in the beginning of the pack, not at the end.  Then came the obstacles: 1. I called the first obstacle over and under they call it Barricade Breakdown.  Difficulty for me was medium.  You need some arm strength for this.  I have some arm strength, some. 2.  Teetering traverse or an angled balance beam.  I'm good with balance.  I was confident.  And then I got up there, it was h

So this morning, my friend and I were walking and talking, minding our own business when we came across 2 male turkeys in the middle road.  We witnessed a conversation that went something like this in my head. Turkey 1: Come on dude, I need you as my wingman. Puff out your chest and spread your feathers like this (turkey 1 demonstrates). Turkey 2: like this? Turkey 1: that' s it. Come on man. (They go back and forth and finally turkey 2 decides he wants no part of it and runs in the opposite direction.)   This doesn't stop turkey 1. At this point we are following him down the road, and turn the corner just in time to see him impress the ladies. We really should've stuck around to see how it ended...
