One year later....

My first post exactly one year ago.....  Five of you were kind enough to read it. :) My youngest does not like shoes.  Once we were at the park and I asked her where her shoes were and she said "I not tell you." (she was one)  Whenever we need to leave in a hurry they go missing.  Most of the time we can find them in the van because she ditches them the minute she gets in.  I feel like I have done my job as a mom if I have put the shoes on her once in the morning, after that it is good luck feet! Attempt to solve the problem:  I have put an emergency pair in my closet for those hurried out the door moments.  I have also put a medium bin under her car seat to catch the shoes and other misc. that may fall during the van ride.  We shall see........ I've come a long way in a year.  When I wrote this, I was curious about blogging.  I wasn't sure if I liked it or if I wanted to blog as a mom or a teacher.  I soon found out that I loved it, blogging is very therapeut

My kind of craft---birdhouse

I'm a simple mom.  I like crafts, but they are messy.  My kids make enough of a mess already.  I do not need to encourage them. BUT when my hubby came home with  this birdhouse kit from Wal-mart , I didn't say much.  He helped J glue it together and then I left her by herself with the paint and the stickers.  I would just rather not watch her make a mess.  I am willing to let my kids make messes, it is just too painful to watch at home.  Anyway I think it turned out great!!
I'm so excited! I've been nominated for the top 25 best teacher mom  blogs!!  Please vote for me!! I have transferred a lot of my mom posts over here so I need the supporters of both my blogs to get in.  The blog you'll be voting for is the kindergarten chick (who teachers 2nd grade).  TIA!!

Finding a balance between punishment and firm, consistent discipline

CONFESSION TIME—We’ve been yelling more than I care to admit this summer, time to go back to school anyone??  So I signed up for this awesome webinar call ed Get Kids to Listen without Reminding or Yelling' Presented By: 'Amy  McCready ' .  It was a very nice reminder to me (someone who has taken many classes on how to care for and discipline children).  It is also seemed to be a great starting point for those that do not know the importance of positive attention and positive power and she is even available as an online coach! I really liked what she had to say.  I like the idea of positive parenting but there are some things that push me into my uncomfortable zone.  My goal is to discipline without punishing.  It is a struggle and I’m learning the way. Many times I resort to what I know, yelling, it is quick and gets the desired reults, but with a HUGE price. The price is my kids yell back or even worse, sometimes they start the yelling in their f

I'm a slob too!

So we left on a mini-vacay today and guess what I did?  THE DISHES!!  If you didn't know, I'm a slob.  OK, most of you know, you've seen my before and afters.  But what you didn't know is it only takes me 20 minutes to maintain (OK maybe you did know that).  I have been spending 10 min. in the morning and 10 min. in the evening doing 4 things that  Nony  recommends.  It has changed my life!  Like her I used to get caught up in behind closed doors organizational projects without doing my dishes.  If you want to get the inspiration I did, download her book!  P.S. I didn't take me 28 days.  Maybe I'm a mini-slob?

31 days to a laundry routine!

31 Days to a Daily Laundry Routine (especially for work outside of the home moms/dads!) ~In the beginning I was overwhelmed with clean clothes everywhere.  I was constantly sorting clothes.  I would spend 30 min. a day sorting clothes on my bed only to put them back in the same dang basket I had brought them out of the laundry room with.  If someone had told me I could keep up with laundry in 5 min. per day I would’ve never believed them.  I would’ve asked them, how do you catch up??  You will be doing A LOT of laundry the first 14 days or so, it will get much easier after that.  ~At the end of this you will be washing one day for each family member and a towel linen day.  A family of 4 will wash clothes 5 days a week.  It will take 5-10 minutes per day. Seriously.   Start on a day off from work.  Day 1- Put in one load of laundry and then put all of your clean clothes away.  All of them!  Plan on spending all day on this.  Every spare minute.  Switch the load, take it out of th
